Collectible cards

Earn money with the passion of collecting

The wide world of cards The world of trading cards is no longer just about the popular Panini images of athletes. Nowadays, cards of anime and cartoons can also have a higher value than a sports car or a luxury villa. At auctions, they fetch enormous sums of money, especially the trading cards of "Pokémon", "Yu-Gi-Oh" or "Magic - The Gathering".

Unbelievable sums

More than 26 years ago, collectors started buying and selling their cards on eBay. On 25 February, collector Tomoya Ohno started the auction for the trading card "Pikachu Illustrator", on which the Pokémon mascot is depicted as an artist. The starting bid was a proud $480,000 (453,110.40 euros). In the end, however, the rare card was sold for an incredible 5.3 million dollars (just under 5 million euros). This makes it the most expensive Pokémon card of all time.

The special feature of this card

The trading card is one of the rarest items on the market. In 1997 and 1998, only 41 copies were released, which served as a prize for the winners of a Pokémon drawing competition in 1998.
